Texas Hunter Education Training

Here at Las Huellas, we are committed to fostering wildlife experience in our community, and that includes promoting safe and eco-conscious hunting. As a part of that effort, we’re proud to offer Hunter Education Training for children and adults in South Texas at an annual event in Resaca de La Palma State Park. Our event provides FREE Hunter Education for up to 100 students.

Most people wanting to hunt in Texas will need to go through Hunter Education before they can legally hunt in the state. Hunter Education is a general course meant to help hunters keep themselves and those around them safe while using guns.

Our Hunter Education Internet and Field Course

Our Hunter Education training is ideal for both children wanting to learn about hunting and adults wanting to get more hands-on experience with live fire in the field. Our course consists of two parts: an online course and a 6-hour field course. We recommend that younger hunters be accompanied by an adult during the field course.

  • Online Course – You’ll complete the FREE Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) online course offered through the National Rifle Association (NRA) website.
  • Field Course – The field course is led by a TWPD-certified instructor. The field course costs $15, and some instructors may ask for additional fees due to things like shooting range and facility costs.

Our annual Hunter Education Training course is held at Resaca de La Palma State Park in Brownsville. Our course will begin at 8 a.m. and last until about 3 p.m. Please make sure that you are on time for the field course to ensure we can all get the most out of the event. Before the field course, you will need to register online. You will also need to complete the online portion of the course prior to the field course date. Our Commitment to Wildlife Education

The team here at Las Huellas is dedicated to building the relationship between our community and the natural world in which we live. One key part of that relationship is hunting. Eco-conscious hunting not only encourages us to get out into nature, but also teaches us about our place in nature. Providing Hunter Education Training is an essential way for us at Las Huellas to continue to teach community members about South Texas wildlife and wildlife conservation.
